How to use this prompt
Asking for a joint "shown three times, apart, partly engaged and seated" is not enough — it comes back as three near-identical assembled blocks, because nothing tells the model how far apart each state should be. Describing the panels one at a time and quantifying the gap in each — held well apart, halfway in with the shoulders still open, closed to a single thin seam — is what forces a readable progression. The second fix is tonal: flat vector gives every face the same value, so specifying that cut end-grain sits a shade darker than long grain keeps the interlocking surfaces legible without shadows.
Variations to try
- Show a different joint family — a through dovetail or a kanawa splice — in the same three states
- Add a fourth panel with the joint under load and thin arrows indicating the direction of force
