How to use this prompt
Two separate things have to be spelled out, and both were learned the hard way. Naming a style — "a traditional Japanese timber joint" — gives the model nothing to cut, and it returns plain squared posts with no joinery on them at all; you have to describe the actual geometry, here a square hole through the post and a matching square tongue on the beam. Describing the sequence panel by panel and quantifying the gap in each is what stops all three states rendering identically. Repeat the geometry inside every panel description too, or the cut quietly vanishes from the panels you did not restate it in.
Variations to try
- Show a different joint family — a through dovetail or a kanawa splice — in the same three states
- Add a fourth panel with the joint under load and thin arrows indicating the direction of force
