How to use this prompt

The image lives or dies on atmospheric depth, so keep 'receding layers into pale fog' near the front of the prompt — it's what pushes the back stalks toward near-white and gives the grove its distance. SDXL wants to pack bamboo edge-to-edge and kill the mist, so if the fog vanishes, add 'sparse foreground stalks, empty misty background' and ease off the step count. Hold CFG at 6 or lower; push it higher and the watercolor washes harden into flat green blocks and lose the wet paper bleed that makes it read as painted. Stay in sage-and-gray — any warm hue reads as autumn maple, not bamboo.

Variations to try

  • Winter version — swap the sage palette for snow-dusted culms against a white sky, add falling snow and a single red torii gate glimpsed through the fog
  • Sumi-e ink version — drop the color entirely for a black-ink brush treatment with a lone stone lantern at the base of the grove
