"Head and shoulders centered with clear space above the hair" is the circle-crop insurance — without it SDXL loves to kiss the hair against the top edge, and every platform's round mask then beheads the framing. "Soft cel shading" with "flat colors" is a deliberate pairing: cel shading alone drifts semi-realistic on base SDXL, especially past CFG 7. If faces still come out glossy, lower CFG to 6 before adding more style words.
